Developing and maintaining a portfolio for SAS Doctors

Only SAS doctors in the KSS  Deanery are eligible to attend this workshop as it has been commissioned by the deanery for local delivery.

This workshop provides helpful strategies in maintaining and developing portfolios. The focus is on the value of using portfolios for professional development, using reflection, development of personal development plans and action plans.

This workshop offers practical advice and guidance for those doctors applying though CESR for entry to the Specialist Register. It will focus on the types of supporting evidence required, who to approach for a reference as well as providing practical ‘tips’ for completing the application process.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this workshop doctors will be able to:

  • Recognise the significance of developing and maintaining an individual portfolio
  • Record useful reflections to aid development
  • Appreciate the importance of personal development planning and know how to plan personal development effectively
  • Identify evidence required when completing CESR application
  • Identify appropriate referees to support a CESR application
  • Gain practical tips on completing a CESR application.
  • Gain practical tips on how to keep and manage a portfolio.
